A lady who was over 90 years old, had a great flair towards dressing up well, applying makeup and arranging her hair in beautiful patterns.

She and her husband had been married to each other for 70 years.

After the departure of her beloved partner, having no children and no one in the family to care for her,
She decided to move to a nursing home.

Even on the day when she vacated her home for good, she dressed up elegantly and looked gorgeous.

After arriving at the nursing home, she had to wait patiently in the lobby for hours before the room was ready.

When an attendant helped her make her way to the room, she gave the lady a visual description of the tiny space that she was meant to occupy.

“I love it” The lady expressed with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old who had just been presented with a new puppy.

“Mrs. Jones, you haven’t even seen the room yet… Just wait. ” The attendant remarked.

“Well, My joy has nothing to do with the room, ” The lady replied.

“Whether I like my room or not, doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged, it depends on how I arrange my mind, happiness is something you can decide ahead of time. And I have already decided to love my room, to love the people around me, to love my life. It is a decision that I make every morning when I wake up. You know what, the greatest asset we all have is the power to choose how we feel. “

The lady continued speaking, as the attendant listened attentively with her mouth wide open.

“I can spend my entire day in bed thinking of the pain I am in, focusing on the parts of my body that no longer work or I can get out of bed and be thankful for those parts that do work. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes can still open, I will continue to focus on today and all the happy memories I have stored in my mind, just for this time in my life.”

The attendant was astounded by the positive attitude of the elderly lady, whose life from an external point of view, was only full of problems and hopelessness.

Actually,

Only problems happen automatically,
Happiness is a choice we all have to make.

“Hatred” happens automatically “love” is a choice we all have to make.

Being negative happens automatically
A positive attitude is a choice we all have to make.

” Complaining ” is automatic

In 1892 at Stanford University, an 18-year-old student was struggling to pay his fees. He was an orphan, and not knowing where to turn for money, he came up with a bright idea. He and a friend decided to host a musical concert on campus to raise money for their education.

They reached out to the great pianist Ignacy J. Paderewski. His manager demanded a guaranteed fee of $2000 for the piano recital. A deal was struck and the boys began to work to make the concert a success.
The big day arrived. But unfortunately, they had not managed to sell enough tickets. The total collection was only $1600. Disappointed, they went to Paderewski and explained their plight. They gave him the entire $1600, plus a cheque for the balance $400. They promised to honor the cheque at the soonest possible.

“No,” said Paderewski. “This is not acceptable.” He tore up the cheque, returned the $1600 and told the two boys: “Here’s the $1600. Please deduct whatever expenses you have incurred. Keep the money you need for your fees. And just give me whatever is left”. The boys were surprised and thanked him profusely.
It was a small act of kindness. But it clearly marked out Paderewski as a great human being.
Why should he help two people he did not even know? We all come across situations like these in our lives. And most of us only think “If I help them, what would happen to me?” The truly great people think, “If I don’t help them, what will happen to them?” They don’t do it expecting something in return. They do it because they feel it’s the right thing to do.

Paderewski later went on to become the Prime Minister of Poland. He was a great leader, but unfortunately, when the World War began, Poland was ravaged. There were more than 1.5 million people starving in his country, and no money to feed them. Paderewski did not know where to turn for help. He reached out to the US Food and Relief Administration for help.
He heard there was a man called Herbert Hoover — who later went on to become the US President. Hoover agreed to help and quickly shipped tons of food grains to feed the starving Polish people.
A calamity was averted. Paderewski was relieved.

He decided to go across to meet Hoover and personally thank him. When Paderewski began to thank Hoover for his noble gesture Hoover quickly interjected and said, ” You shouldn’t be thanking me Mr. Prime Minister. You may not remember this, but several years ago, you helped two young students go through college. I was one of them .”

The world is a wonderful place. What goes around comes around. Please help others to the best of your ability. In the long run, you may be helping yourself. God never forgets anyone who sows a good seed in other people, never.

Brenda was a young woman who was invited to go rock climbing. Although she was very scared, she went with her group to a tremendous granite cliff. In spite of her fear, she put on the gear, took hold of the rope, and started up the face of the rock.

Well, she got to a ledge where she could take a breather. As she was resting there, the safety rope snapped against Brenda’s eye and knocked out her contact lens.

There she was, on a rock ledge, with hundreds of feet below her and hundreds of feet above her. Of course, she looked and looked and looked, hoping her contact lens had landed on the ledge, but it was just not there.

Here she was, far from home, her sight was now blurry. Brenda was desperate and began to get upset. She prayed to the Lord to help her to find it. When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but there was no contact lens to be found.

Despondent, she sat down with some of the party waiting for them to make it up the face of the cliff. She looked out across the range of mountains and thought of the Bible verse that said: “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth …” II Chronicles 16:9.

She thought “Lord, you can see these mountains. You know every stone and leaf and you know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me.  Finally, she walked down the trail to the bottom. A new party of climbers was just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out: “Hey guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?”

Well, that would be startling enough, but do you know where the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across the face of the rock, carrying it on his back.  The story gets better. Brenda’s father is a cartoonist.

When she told him the incredible story of the ant, her prayer and the contact lens, he drew a picture of an ant lugging that contact lens with the words: “Lord, I don’t know why you want me to carry this thing. I can’t eat it, and it’s awfully heavy. But if that’s what you want me to do; I’ll carry it for you.

I think it would do some of us good to occasionally say, “God, I don’t know why you want me to carry this load. I can’t see any good in it and it’s awfully heavy. But if you want me to carry it, I will.” 

You see, we all have a burden to carry and sometimes we don’t know why. It could be just because we are to be an example to someone else or by answered prayer by being humble before God.

God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Yes, I do love God. He is my source and my Savior. He keeps me functioning each and every day. Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him … “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phillippians 4:13.

Second: Control- Yes that is the key word. Whether you are doing a home or business accounting, what you gain is the first hand information on where do you stand financially.

If you are able to identify how much control you want over your business’s financial health, you’ll be able to determine whether or not you want to do your own bookkeeping.

ADVANTAGES OF DOING YOUR OWN BOOK-KEEPING

We are in a digital world and more and more people are joining the bandwagon on a daily basis. We keep active in Social Media to express your presence, feelings, grievances and happy moments in life. We fill our accounts with more and more personal information, like Photogrpahs, Videos which might be good for the time being but become hazardous once you loose control over it.

According to Forrester Research, 55.6 million adults in the United States have a social networking account with a site like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or Google.  In Asian countries, the number is doubling.

According to reports in 2016, around 8000 Facebook users die daily, the equivalent of 428 every hour. In the first ten years of Facebook’s existence, 30 million users died — with 312,500 now reportedly passing away each month.In fact, if the social networking giant stops growing, more users will be dead than alive by 2065.

But have you ever thought what will happen to those accounts when you depart from this world? You may think 1. With my death, the account will cease operation 2. After a few months it will become dormant and has its own death, Both are fine- but what about the documents, pictures, and videos once you thought good to keep for your posterity? Or, on the other hand, that your family, friends or heirs may gain unwanted access to intimate records. 

In most countries’ legal systems, individuals have the right to decide what happens to their wealth and assets when they die. This is the long-established freedom to make a will and entrust your assets to whomever you wish.  This same freedom should extend online and enable individuals to decide what happens to their online ‘wealth’ ( personal data) when they die. Countries should bring law to make this effective, though a majority of the public still makes no Will foreseeing their death. 

The present social media giants are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, Microsoft ( Cloud) and Google ( Drive). Let us see what is the policy of these giants once you are ‘out of the picture’.

FACEBOOK

Facebook has a clear policy established a few years ago after they found that they have a large number of deceased accounts. Family members could choose one of two options: close the account — Facebook will delete an account permanently upon the family’s request ( Need to provide Death Certificate) — or converting the account into a memorial profile. But they will never provide login information to anybody other than the user whether the user is dead or alive. An online form is available to report the user’s demise.

After reviewing the account and find no activity for the past 3 or months, Facebook will convert the account into a Memorial. ( Deletion of the account is easy). Facebook removes sensitive information from the profile. This includes contact information and addresses. status updates to protect the privacy of the deceased user. Once it is done, only friends or relatives can access the account. This memorial page will not list while on a Search.

The company will also deactivate the user’s login information. This prevents anyone from guessing the user’s password and logging in to cause mischief.

One disadvantage is that, If no one contacts Facebook to alert the user’s death, his or her profile will remain active indefinitely. Facebook doesn’t delete inactive accounts without notification. Depending upon the user’s privacy settings, people will still be able to search and visit the profile and leave comments.

What you can do?

You can add a ‘legacy contact’ – someone you choose to look after your account if it’s memorialised. To add a legacy contact, go to your account’s general setting, select ‘settings’ and click ‘manage account.’ Type in a friend’s/ family member’s name and click ‘add’. and, click ‘send.’  Families can close or ‘memorialise’ accounts so certain features, like birthday reminders, no longer appear. Families can ask Facebook for access to some of the account’s content (but not private chats).

TWITTER

To deactivate a deceased person’s twitter account, an authorized person or a verified family member should contact Twitter for further action ( Requires a copy of ID from the person making the request and a copy of the death certificate.) Otherwise, Otherwise, the only other option is to leave the account as is. Twitter has no provision to memorialize any account like in Facebook. However, Twitter clearly states that it will not give access to a deceased user’s account regardless of his or hers relationship to the family member or friend requesting authorisation.

GMAIL:

The Inactive Account Manager feature allows you to set a certain amount of time (3,6 or 9 months) you want Google to wait before considering you ‘inactive’. One month before that deadline, Google sends you an email alert or text message. If you still haven’t entered your account by then, Google will notify your ‘trusted contacts’ (you can list up to 10) and share your data with them if you have chosen to do so. Google uses several signals to figure out whether you’re still using your Google Account, such as last sign-ins, recent activity, usage of Gmail and Android check-ins. To set up the Inactive Account Manager, go to www.google.com/settings/account/inactive and click ‘setup’. 

INSTAGRAM

instagram permits to keep an account belongs to a deceased person for memorialization. To report, Instagram’s Help Center must be contracted and proof of death ( Death Certificate, Obituary, or news). Posts of the deceased user will stay shared on the site and are visible to the people they were shared with, but memorialized accounts do not appear in public spaces like searches. A closure request can be made only by immediate family members.

France has adopted a Digital Republic Act 2016 where bequeath of Digital Wealth is possible. The use of software tools like in Google In Active Account Manager or Facebook Legacy Contact should solve the problem to a certain extend. However, it is your personal decision whether to transfer the digital wealth to your heirs, or keep as Memorial or give a slow death ( inactive) after you pass away from this beautiful earth.

The North Sentinel Island came into limelight after the recent killing of Mr. John Allen Chau, a 27-year-old from Alabama. It is a forbidden island where Mr. Chau tried to enter illegally, to preach Christianity.  The possibility of getting Mr. Chau’s body is very remote.

The endangered Andaman tribes, known as Sentinelese,  living in isolation for more than 30,000 years from the world are very dangerous. North Sentinel Island is home to a pre-Neolithic tribe that is as vulnerable as they are mysterious.

North Sentinel Island is one of the islands grouped under Andaman Nicobar is a part of the territory of India. It is a forbidden, mysterious and dangerous place.

Contact with the endangered Andaman tribes living in isolation from the world is illegal because of the risks to them from outside disease. Estimates say the Sentinelese, who are totally cut off from civilization, numbers only between 50 and 150 now. They don’t even understand the use of the money. Their main defensive system is the use of  Bow and Arrow and Spears.

In 2017, the Indian government also said taking photographs or making videos of the neolithic tribe of Andaman tribes would be punishable with imprisonment of up to three years. (If they are lucky enough to return live). The Sentinelese are belligerent to outsiders and their policy is to kill anybody who approaches them with bow and arrow or spear. They are completely naked and ribbons or belts made out of plants wrap around their waste, possibly as an ornament.

Since they lack genetic immunity, and for the protection of both the tribes and outsiders, traveling within 3 Kilometers of the island is prohibited by law.

North Sentinel Island is about 20 sq miles and the Sentinelese are thought to have had no contact with surrounding communities since 1991. In 1960 a group of anthropologists with the help of armed guards made an effort to do field visits by giving Coconuts ( Though they love it; no coconut is grown in that island.) as gifts. But eventually, they had to abandon their venture. In 2006 two Indian fishermen who slept in their fishing boat carried away by waves to the shore, were killed. A rescue team to retrieve the bodies were sent by helicopter but had to return. The tribe fired hundreds and thousands of arrows at the helicopter. The tribe fired hundreds and thousands of arrows at the helicopter.

India Government recognized the North Sentinel Island as unofficially ‘ sovereign’, a left alone- non-interfering policy.

Many still think that blogging is for self-expression. Yes, they are not wrong; but not right too. Your interest may not be the same as your audience. People visit blogs for information and they trust you. Eventually, they buy what you recommend.

Blogging is not only to increase your hits and traffic. You might have noticed by this time that Traffic Exchanges gives hits ( A good Traffic Exchange gives on an average hit of 200 per thousand.) but the net results are even less than 20. But through a good blog, you can earn good results. Though I use traffic exchanges, my main campaign is through Web Search Engines.  A good blog always gives good and rich content according to the taste of a targeted audience.

If you are a good blogger you can make money too. There are a few ways to do it.

1. Selling Your Own Products

A product which you want to sell online should be tangible. Digital products like E-book, Photo, Art Print or Apparel. Customers always prefer to buy directly from you.  Perhaps the most obvious way to monetize a blog is to sell a product that your customers can buy directly from you. Once the product is ready, you can publicize in your blog and also try to put it through good e-commerce sites. You should have a PayPal or WordPress payment option.

2. Services:

There are certain services you can offer if you are an expert. For Eg: Photography, Web designing, Logo designing, Copy Writing, Content Writing etc. Selling of these services is same as selling a Product.

3. Affiliate Marketing:

Affiliate marketing is simple ( Not MLM); no product or services of your own is required. It is promoting other peoples’ product through your blog or other sites and receives a commission in return. You are given a personal link and an image link ( Eg. Banner or different sizes) to use promoting a product. Once your visitors click on these links they will be re-directed to the original seller’s site and when he makes a purchase you will get a commission.

4. Advertising:

If your blog or website has above average views advertisers may approach you to place their product advertising.

Direct selling of advertising is rather difficult which depends on the design, views, and content. Instead, an advertising network.

Target your blog to certain segments such as, finance, health, diabetes, affiliate management, photography etc. Once your blog is accepted and people are satisfied your web view will be increased and advertisers will automatically approach you. Once you have the credibility, even you may be invited to co-author articles and books for which you will be paid.

Note that blogging is not a direct form of making money.

Somewhere I read, ” Food is the gateway to learn about the culture of a place”. The international chain of fast foods or restaurants, will not give you the feel of the culture or taste of that country or place.  Street Food is one of those travel experiences one can find in cities and towns all around the world. It is convenient and cheap, and it will create far-reaching impacts on you. An advise to a bride goes like this” If you want to bring your husband to your side, cook good food for him.”

Street food is simple, delicious and gives an opportunity to sample some local cuisine. Evenings are the best time to have a stroll around the city/ town or village gully’s to get the best out of it. People may doubt its cleanliness and hygiene. But as long as the kiosk is crowded and the food is fast moving you can count on its dependability. Joining locals around the bustling little street stalls can open doors for memorable happy hours.

During a short visit to Sri Lanka, myself and my wife Mary, met a couple from Italy while having food in one evening from a street vendor. The couple gave us every detail of Tuscany and in the very next year, we landed over there. They told us not to miss tasting panino with prosciutto, salami or mortadella. Also porchettaro ( Roasted Pork).

The local cuisine is different from our regular food. Always make it a point to have your dinner in a local restaurant or from a street vendor. There you can mingle with local people, know more about them, listen to their music, and enjoy their local culture.

We love to go to villages rather than going to a city. When we visited Italy, we didn’t go to Rome, Vatican etc but spend most of our time in Tuscany and its surrounding villages. Even in the Czech Republic, we traveled deep into the villages and had a taste of locally cooked port knee. In Switzerland, we enjoyed the taste of Cheese fondue. Whether you’re a typical foodie or not, you may find that your search for great street food turned out to be among the best experiences of your trip.

You will find a variety of street foods more in Warmer countries. Local markets are best places to wander and you can taste different foods from stalls to stalls, both hot and cold. In some countries, experiencing street food means experiencing their culture as well.
